I worked for a company based out of San Diego called DR Systems. February of 2015 we were purchased by a company called Merge Healthcare. Merge Healthcare in Oct 2015 was purchased by IBM - Watson Health Division. So I now work for IBM. I still do the same job for the company which is a PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) company dealing with Digital Radiology images; here is a link to a wiki page if anyone wants to read more on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picture_archiving_and_communication_system. What IBM is bringing to the mix is the use of their AI "WATSON", which will use medical imaging to assist Doctors, and Radiologist in identifying potential health issues. Hologic already does this with Mammography Imaging they call it CAD (Computer Aided Diagnostics). Watson will be used for all other types of imaging and LAB results.
I work out of my home office in Nashville TN as a field service engineer for the company. I travel most of the time as I cover Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia. We do work with audio in the area of Voice Recognition and Digital dictation. Sound clips/files are created, or with Voice recognition the dictation is immediately transferred from voice to text using Dragon Naturally Speaking and Microsoft Word.I have worked with computer systems since joining the military in 1987. I served for 11 yrs in the army and was stationed and deployed to many places. I have taken courses in C++ programing and basic computer skills while in the army. I have not done anything with JavaScript programing. I have enjoyed creating webpages as a hobby, but I want to expand my basic self-taught knowledge and abilities. What I hope to gain from taking these courses is a broader understanding and skills required to make vibrant interactive and esthetically pleasing webpages.
Halloween is my favorite holiday. This year will be the 10yr my wife and I have thrown a Halloween bash for friends. Then the night of trick or treating (not always Halloween night) we allow people to go through our house to check it out. Kids of course can only go through with a parent or adult that comes up with them. Here is a link to my personal webserver page. It is semi locked down, user name and password are both guest. It is on a nonstandard port to try and help keep scanning bots away. I have had no issues in the years I have made it available. My armor on the home page is a full reproduction of Roman armor. Gets very heavy by the end of the day when I am at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival.
